How to fix ICQ HTML tags in iMessage

26/07/2012

This post is not actual any more, so here is another solution:

Go to  ~/Library/Preferences/

Open com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist

Change ForceICQPlainText to true

Save, put read-only attribute on file

Logoff/logon. Enjoy.

Hi,

thanks for your post! I found several other sites mentioning the com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist and editing it.

Everytime I tried it so far, all I could see was a binary file with some clear text, but never a boolean variable to switch.

Now, as I see your screenshot, I can understand why. Unfortunately I can’t tell, which program or settings tool you used for creating this screenshot.

Could you please give some more information?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Greetings from Germany,
Matthias

Open in with Xcode, it’s app from Apple for developers and is available for free on Mac App Store. Just open it go trough some steps (1st launch) and then you’ll see window like in this post.
